A Note from Katie

To potential future students:

Hello! My name is Ms. Katie, and I started piano lessons when I was five years old (my grandmom was my first teacher.) Much later in my life, while I was in college for music, I started voice lessons because I had already been in chorus for many years and wanted more guidance on how to use my voice. I loved both instruments so much that I started taking classes on how to teach piano and voice. I’ve been on my own musical journey since I first started lessons, and along the way I've felt excited, soothed, fulfilled, challenged (...sometimes frustrated), and truly amazed at how awesome it is to make music. I continue learning more about music every day, even while I'm also a music teacher! If you plan to add music-making to your daily routine and want someone to help you, I would be glad to hear from you. Please have your family members get in touch with me!

To the parents, families, guardians of potential future students:

Hello families! I value the partnerships I create with students and their families as we work together to support your student’s musical growth. I remember my mom driving me to my piano lessons each week, and her reminders to practice all of my lesson assignments instead of only my favorites (I loved the music pieces more and the warm-up exercises a bit less... 🙂)

It's true that the family's commitment to lessons will influence how successful their student will be; from keeping up with communication to reminding students about practicing, the family's support makes a difference! Your investment in lessons with me, combined with my investment of knowledge, energy, and care into each lesson I teach, results in a rewarding musical experience for your student. If you are ready to commit to supporting your student as they pursue lessons, please get in touch!
